Privacy policy
Glare Map works out the sun and your trips in your browser. The towns you pick stay on your device; the site only counts visits.
This policy covers Glare Map (glare-map.tukka.dev), made by Tukka (“we”). It was updated on 17 October 2026.
The short version
- No accounts, no ads, and no tracking across other apps or sites.
- The towns you pick and the trips you plan never leave your browser, and the site never asks where you are.
- The site counts visits with a random ID that isn’t tied to you. That’s all we collect, and it’s deleted after 40 days.
Your trips
The map, the highways and the towns download from this site, and everything else, the sun’s position, the glare and your trips, is worked out on your device. The towns you type and pick are never sent anywhere and never appear in the page’s address.
Your browser’s local storage keeps the state you last picked on the map and your last trip’s two towns, so they’re there when you come back, and whether you’ve closed the welcome note. They stay on this device, and clearing the site’s data in your browser deletes them.
What we collect
Each time a page opens, the site sends a short message to our server. It contains:
- a random ID, made in your browser on your first visit and kept in its local storage;
- that the visit is to Glare Map, on the web;
- the address of the page (such as /about) and, for the first page you open, the address of the site that sent you there.
Our server adds the time and the country you’re in, which Cloudflare works out from your IP address. It also notes your browser, operating system and type of device (phone, tablet or computer), read from the user agent your browser sends. Of the referring address, it keeps only the website’s domain.
We don’t store your IP address or your user agent. The random ID isn’t linked to your name, email, phone number, advertising ID or any other identifier, and we don’t try to find out who you are. Messages travel encrypted, over HTTPS.
Why we collect it
To count how many people use Glare Map and which pages they open, so we know what’s worth improving. We don’t sell this data, share it, or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Each record is deleted 40 days after it’s made.
Where it’s kept
On our own server in France, in the European Union. Cloudflare delivers this site and passes the messages on to our server, so it handles your IP address along the way, under its own privacy policy.
Your choices
You can reset the random ID whenever you like by clearing the site’s data in your browser, which also forgets your state and last trip. Your old records are then no longer connected to anything, and they’re deleted within 40 days.
Children
Glare Map isn’t made for children under 13, and the usage data above isn’t tied to anyone’s identity, whatever their age.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
